Short Biography

Jinqiu Zhang’s architectural projects are mainly located in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province. Her work can be categorized in two phases. In the first phase she focused on the architectural characteristics of the traditional Tang-Dynasty-style for her designs. This included for example flower symbols like the Hibiscus mutabilis Linn or Fei Yan shaped roofs which can be found in her projects. During this time of her life, she was working for the Northwest Design Institute of Chinese Architecture. In the second phase she went a step further and focused on the urban planning aspects of the Tang-Dynasty-style, as reference for her own designs. Throughout her work, Jinqiu Zhang aimed to bring back the characteristics of Tang Dynasty’s architecture and urban planning. Her designs significantly shaped the city of Xi’an.
