Doctor in Architecture and graduated first as an architect in 1961, her professional life can be divided into three main stages: The stage dedicated to her own projects building schools, the stage dedicated to her work in the State Construction Committee and the stage dedicated to the Council of Experts where she has remained for the last decades. Her life and work are linked to the development of the Cuban architectural and patrimonial sphere. She has left her mark on the most important works carried out during the last 50 years. Her work, recognized through important awards such as the National Architecture Award and the Combatiente de la Clandestinidad order, make her a role model in relation to her occupation during the last fifty years in Cuba. In 2002 she also received the ‘Life and Work of Architecture’ Award.
She began with the construction of schools for nurses as well as other educational buildings like teacher’s training schools and experimental schools all around Cuba. During that period she developed housing construction systems like the System Girón and Gran Panel. Josefina Rebllón is a founder of the National Assembly of People’s Power, where she remained as deputy.
