Short Biography

Iryna Ivanko was one of the leading figures in historic preservation in Ukraine. 

Born in Kharkiv, she graduated from Kyiv Art Institute in 1966, moving to work at USNRPU (later UkrNDIproiektrestavratsia (Ukrainian State Scientific-Research and Design Institute of Restauration)). 

Alongside several male colleagues, Ivanenko was awarded the Taras Shevchenko Prize in 1983 for the restoration of the Mariinsky Palace complex in Kyiv.

Work

Among her other projects are the fortress in Belgorod-Dniester (1970-1990), Intercession Church in Sulimivka, Kyiv region (1989), buildings of Primorsky Boulevard in Odessa (1991), Trinity Church in Dykanka (1991), Lutheran Church in Odesa (1991, with Tamara Huselnykova).
