Short Biography and Work

Makrui Bagdasaryan was born in Yerevan on 20 February 1947. She studied at the Polytechnic Institute of Yerevan and graduated in 1972. Besides architecture and urban planning, Bagdasaryan was also interested in applied arts. She participated in art and craft exhibitions in Armenia and abroad. She used her talent for drawing not only for architectural drawings and city plans. Sketches of Armenian national costumes exist by her. She was rewarded for her main work as a planner and architect with two awards: a medal of the All-Union Exhibition of the Achievements of National Economy and the All-Union Festival “Best Building of the Year” of 1985.

Bagdasaryan dedicated her work to the urban development of the Armenian capital Yerevan. She planned a residential area in the Shahumyan district. At the same time, she developed Section VI of the Ring Boulevard. A swimming pool and aesthetically enhancing fountains decorate this place. Bagdasaryan considered important areas of use in the modern city, such as underground car parks, as well as creative urban decoration, such as the fountain of the ringboulevard.

Outside of Yerevan and the urban planning work, she designed the construction of a factory in Tsakhkadzor.
