Dr. Nadia Basir was born in Damascus 1954 and has studied architecture at University of Damascus in Syria and at Technical University Dresden in Germany.
As Basir returned to Syria in 1993 she started to work at the Faculty of Architecture, at Damascus University. Basir’s research interest is on sustainable architecture, in which she specialized already while studying in Germany. She tried to introduce this topic more and more to the Syrian educational discourse. However so far this topic is still being neglected in the academic world in Syria. Nevertheless Basir strongly believes that Syrian architects should apply sustainable architectural designs in the upcoming reconstruction process of the country.
Nadia Basir has several publications concerning this topic, which she published as research papers, scientific articles, or even as educational lectures for her students.
