Hello world! We are excited to announce the launch of our website with this first message. This website was created within the project “Second World, Second Sex: Women and Architecture under Socialism,” funded by the Hesse Ministry of Science and the Arts. We hope that it will become a platform for sharing information about the role of women in shaping and using the built environment in socialist countries. In the coming weeks and months, we intend to use this website for bringing to light neglected legacies of women-architects, -construction engineers, -landscape architects, -interior designers, -book illustrators, -theather stage set designers, -educators, and more. In addition to biographies, we will publish essays, images, videos, and scans, as well as links to related materials and announcements about related events. We cordially invite everyone to contribute by sharing your materials, announcements, or authoring entries. Interested? Please contact us at info@womenbuildingsocialism.org or by using the form on our contact page below.
