Short Biography

Born in Kazan (Tatarstan, Russia) in a Tatar family, Afzamendinova graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute (MArchI) in 1948. In 1963, Afzamendinova became the chief architect of the Dipromisto Institute in Kyiv, one of the leading research and design institutes for urban and territorial planning in Ukraine.

In 1978, she was awarded the Taras Shevchenko Prize for the building of Crimea Academic Ukrainian Musical Theater in Simferopol (with Vitaly Yudin and Ernest Bykov).

Work

Her work includes buildings at Lesya Ukrainka Avenue in Kyiv (1968-1972 with others), the Crimean State Academic Musical Theater in Simferopol (1976-1977 with Vitaly Yudin and Ernest Bykov) and the Transcarpathian District Musical-Dramatic Theater in Uzhhorod (1979 with others).
