Short Biography and Work

The architect Sigrid Albeshausen, born in 1940 in Stettin (Poland), worked among other things in the VEB WGK (a certain type of building combine) Frankfurt/Oder in the project planning department. She planned several projects in the then district town of Frankfurt, such as a housing complex or a retirement home. But she was also involved in planning social buildings like a concert hall. At the time of reunification, she was politically active in the New Forum, which was one of the leading civic movements during the Peaceful Revolution. Later, she also served as a city councilor for the SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany) and resigned from office in 2020 at the age of 80.

She is married to Hans Albeshausen, who also worked as an architect.
