Short Biography and Work

Silvia Măldărescu graduated from Ion Minchu Institute of Architecture in 1970, proceeding to work at the Carpathian Design Institute. There, she progressed from architect to design project head, and, in 1986, became the head of a workshop. Most of her projects dealt with buildings for healthcare, including the Surgery and Gynecology Building of the Calinesti-Arges hospital in Bucharest (1980-1982; prize of the Union of Romanian Architects), the Obstetrics and Newborn hospital in Râmnicu Vâlcea (1978-1983), Bucharest Oncological Institute (1983-1988, prize of the Union of Romanian Architects; with Ileana Murgescu Tureanu, Gheorghe Pătrașcu und Nicolae Grama)–Măldărescu acted as the head architects on all of these projects. In 1976-1978, she also worked as an assistant at the Ion Minchu Institute of Architecture. After 1999, she moved to private architectural practice.
