Maevska was born in Kyiv in the family of an engineer; her father died in the Second World War. Between 1949 and 1955, she studied architecture at Kyiv Institute of Engineering and Construction. Upon graduation, she became an architect at the Dipromisto (State Scientific-Research Institute of Urban Design), where she rose to senior architect, team leader, and chief project architect. In 1973 she defended a Ph.D. dissertation “Composition of Park Landscapes in the Arid Conditions of the Steppe Zone of Ukraine.” In the course of her career, she designed over a hundred master plans and detailed plans for cities and parks.
She was awarded as a distinguished architect of Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1981.
Among her projects are master plans for the cities of Dnipro (1964, coauthor) and Pereyaslav, Kyiv region (1973), Askania-Nova Arboretum (1967), Oleksandriyskyi park in Ordzhonikidze, Dnepropetrovsk region (1971), park of the Glory of Partisans in Kyiv (1978).
