The 18th edition of Belgrade International Architecture Week (BINA) took place in multiple locations from May 11 to June 18 and included six exhibitions and related events. The prelude to BINA was a panel discussion “Women in Architecture: BINA pre BINE” and an encounter of Women’s Architectural Society ŽAD from Serbia and the Women’s Committee of the Austrian Chamber of Architects and Chartered Engineering Consultants (Kammer der ZiviltechnikerInnen Oberösterreich und Salzburg) held on May 6. Speakers were Eva Vanista Lazarević and Žaklina Gligorijević representing ŽAD and Violeta Vujović Salhofer, Barbara Kubler, and Jutta Wörtl-Gösslera from Austria. Members of both organizations had the opportunity to exchange experiences and opinions on the position of women architects in society and discuss current topics in contemporary architectural practice.
ŽAD members were invited to participate in anotHERVIEWture Award competition, an annual outstanding achievement award for women in civil engineering and architecture established by the Bundeskammer der ZiviltechnikerInnen, in the fourth category “International Female Architect of the Year”.
In previous years, ŽAD organized several exhibitions showcasing the achievements of its members with the aim of raising the profile of women architects. The meeting brought up the idea of creating a next one in cooperation with colleagues from Austria.
